Fall 2019

Concerts— Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Saviour’s in Bar Harbor, and Sunday, December 15 at 3:00 p.m., in Ellsworth. Please plan to be there at 6 p.m for the evening concert and 2 p.m. for the afternoon concerts.

“Dress” rehearsals—Dress rehearsal is Friday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Saviour’s Church in Bar Harbor. and Tuesday, December 10 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Note that concert dress is not required at the dress rehearsal.

Rehearsals—Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:00 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Ellsworth (121 Bucksport Rd.) The first rehearsal is September 10 with a chance to greet other singers and share finger food at 8:30. Please be in place and ready to sing at 7:00. Please note that the last 3 or 4 rehearsals in Ellsworth may be extended by 15-20 minutes. This additional time will allow us to spend less time standing on the risers during the rehearsals at St. Saviour’s. Note that the regular rehearsal on Tuesday, December 3 is at St. Saviours.

Fees—Dues: $40. Cost of music: $35. Checks are to be made out to the Acadia Choral Society. Dues may be paid in two installments; in case of need, scholarships for dues are available. Please contact the chorus treasurer, Gerry Gregersen (, for any special arrangements.

Attendance—You will be allowed three absences per semester. If you know that you will miss two or more rehearsals in a row, please notify Barbara Thompson at rehearsal prior to your absence. Attendance at the dress rehearsal is mandatory. If you must drop out of the chorus for any reason, please contact the chorus president, Michael Marion, at 288-4884 or

(Note: Exceptions to the three-absences guideline are made at the director’s discretion. However, please make attendance a top priority. We work most effectively and efficiently when everyone is present.)

Weather cancellations—If a rehearsal will be canceled because of weather, the phone tree will be activated by 3:00 p.m., so please be sure that we have a number where you can be reached; there is a member list on which to sign up.

Concert dress—Women: White blouse, black long skirt or black slacks. Men: White long-sleeved shirt, black trousers. Please refrain from wearing perfumes and other products that are scented, as some choir members are sensitive to this.
